Momtrepreneur Story

Growing up in Youngstown, OH I always knew there were bigger opportunities out in the world, but I got caught up in growing up to fast. By my end of my high school senior year I was 18, 9 months pregnant and had a goal of attending and graduating college. I enrolled in the 2016 Fall Semester of Youngstown State College as a full-time student in the Business Program. There was just something about attending college, being on campus, being challenged and the Business Program that I fell in love with and pushed me to set my career path. Following this path I learned I could complete my education, start a career and set my own schedule as well as becoming a entrepreneur. My journey started while attending college and by independently selling my own brand of waist trainers to friends and family. This went so well that I was able to create my own website and start selling online, which put me into momtrepreneur status! After a year at this status I graduated Youngstown State with a Bachelors Degree, majoring in Communications and minoring in Business Administration. I wanted to maintain my momtrepreneur status but wanted to follow my passion for health, finance and supporting my son as a young mother. Selling waist trainers was my way of supporting my passion for health, but it wasn’t enough to support my son or my passion for finance. Let me tell you, I was scared. I had a baby, no job with steady income and a college degree. What are my options now? I researched how people achieve financial success and how to create budget while I looked for a job, so I put myself out there and received invitations for interviews. After looking over several options of employment I chose to take on a Financial Planning Career. I received an internship and received even more knowledge of how to help guide myself and others to making the right moves to secure a positive financial future.
